While at CSW, governments will co-sponsor space for Side Events on key issues relevant to their country. Australia may co-sponsor two or three Side Events, and sometimes include a Side Event with a Pacific country. Australia has also supported the Australian Human Rights Commission and other members of the Australian Government Delegation to present at Side Events. Side Events are an opportunity for countries and UN entities to present on their work and to gain insight, strategies and alliances to progress work in specific areas. NGOs and government representatives attend Side Events.
Side Events are usually held in the UN building and SET’s may be needed for access. Information on any Australian Side Events are shared via the Australian Government Office for Women CSW NGO email list and you will need to email the Office for Women to apply for registration to any Australian government sponsored event.
Schedules for CSW Side Events can also be found on the UN CSW website.
It is recommended that NGOs reserve a space via email as far in advance as possible as the events book out quickly. Attendance cannot be guaranteed and entry to the event may be dependant on variable factors.
